Speakers on the TechChill main stage in Riga, February 10 will share their personal stories from both sides of the coin – the gamble, risk and fear, as well as the excitement, passion and drive. Promising startups with passionate ideas to experienced entrepreneurs and VC’s with decades of success and failure behind their belt.
“We know this is a decidedly different path than most tech events take. It is important to talk about technology, marketing, investing and innovation, as these are the main challenges startup teams face in their business every day. It is, however, even more critical to talk about the personal experiences at the core of the startup life, as these challenges are just as important – the good, the bad and the ugly. These are the things that matter the most, whether you’re just at the start of the road or have a lot of experiences to share,” says Marija Rucevska, CEO of TechChill.
As every year in February, an energetic crowd of startups, entrepreneurs and investors come together in Riga, an ever growing startup hub full of fresh ideas and raw talent. TechChill is the main annual startup meeting place in Riga since 2011, and has grown to a two-day event that brings together around 1000 participants from the Baltics, Northern and Eastern Europe.
The First Day
On February 9 the agenda will focus on practical advice for startup teams in the form of workshops and interactive talks by global investors, experienced mentors, CTO’s and experts in their fields. The workshops will challenge everyday issues such as hiring the best team, pitching to an investor, creating a company culture, managing investment deals, global markets and others. On the same day, Riga Venture Summit will host regional policy makers and business leaders, global startup founders and investors to discuss best policy practices for a competitive startup ecosystem.
The Second Day
The main event on February 10 will bring everyone together for a full day of networking, matchmaking and inspiration. Speakers from the Baltics to Silicon Valley will offer personal stories from the human side of tech, followed by a pitch battle of the most promising regional startup teams. Beyond the main stage, the event will host matchmaking, startup expo and networking opportunities between regional startups and global investors who come here to be the first to discover the next promising team from the Baltics, Northern and Eastern Europe.
The first confirmed speakers of TechChill include Bob Tinker, the Co-Founder of MobileIron, one of the leading mobile security companies in the world and Mai Medhat, the female tech entrepreneur from Egypt who founded the successful all-in-one events platform and networking app Eventtus. They will be joined by two ambitious startup CEO’s and co-founders from Latvia – Ernests Jenavs, the founder of the EdTech startup Edurio seeking to help schools tap into the power of feedback, and Dāvis Siksnāns, the head of Printful, the printing company with a homebase in California and an exponentially growing global business.

The team behind TechChill is non-profit TechHub Riga, the heart, soul, and the first homebase of most startups from Latvia. Grown out of a coffee house meeting place for like-minded developers and their friends, TechHub Riga is at the center of the startup community that aims to encourage the growth of innovation and technology startups. The event is organized together with our community partners – B2B startup accelerator StartupWiseGuys powered by Lattelecom, the Latvian Startup association. We also wouldn’t get far without the help of our friends at Printful, Altum, Caballero and Design studio WIG.
