The startups this year come from 11 countries, from Germany to Belarus, and represent a wide range of services and products. Founders will present their startup on the LMT Founder Stage on the first day of the event with a 3-minute pitch to an audience of international VC’s, business angels, accelerators, media and of course, the official jury. Five finalists, selected by a jury of several world-leading investors, will present on the Superhero Stage on day two, and compete for the main prize – 10 000 euros in cash.
Besides the 10 000 EUR, our partners and sponsors will offer several prizes to their selected favorites. The special prizes include 20 000 EUR in credits to the Google Cloud Platform from Google for Entrepreneurs, Microsoft mentoring and Azur compute environment for the 5 selected finalists, a private year-long mentoring from PwC, 1000 EUR worth of legal advice from Hedman Partners experts, and more prizes from Cobalt to be announced soon.
Startup Wise Guys mentor and expert team was leading the selection process. “This year startups showed significantly higher interest in applying for TechChill pitch battle. We see it related both to the tempting prize of 10 000 EUR, as well as the new application format for the Fifty Founders Battle – where half of the startups are recommended and hand-picked by ecosystem partners, co-working hubs, accelerators from the nearby region. This has also impacted the quality of applications having more mature startups on the list, thus making jury’s life both more exciting and also challenging, while selecting the top 50. Main criteria for the evaluation were – traction, market, team, and product.
Along with various software startups, there is a clear fintech trend in the region with 10 applications from finance-related startups. Surprisingly, next in line are medtech startups, followed by entertainment related and hardware startups,” adds Egita Polanska, Head of Startup Recruitment at Startup Wise Guys.
